Canmore Course Tour with Rosanna Crawford

The 1988 Olympic Biathlon stadium at the Canmore Nordic Center is just about ready for the this week's BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 7 that opens tomorrow with the men's 10K sprint at 11:15 local time (19:15 CET). The women's sprint follows on Friday at the same time.

Welcome to Canmore: BMW IBU World Cup 7

After long and tiring trips from Europe, about 230 athletes are here in Canmore training for the first of two BMW IBU World Cups in North America. Although many arrived last night, virtually no one passed up the chance to ski this morning at the Canmore Nordic Center, site of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games biathlon competitions.

Editors Choice Wrap-up with Doro, Katja and Simon

Shipulin Leads Russian Men to Relay Win

The Russian team of Maxim Tsvetkov, Evgeniy Garanichev, Dmitry Malyshko and Anton Shipulin won the men's relay in the closing competition today at Antholz with seven spare rounds, in 1:12:24.8. Shipulin pulled away from Germany's Simon Schempp in the last loop for a one second win. Germany had a penalty and four spares finished second. Norway finished third, with seven spares, 22.9 seconds back.

Women’s Relay Victory for France

The French team of Justine Braisaz, Anais Bescond, Anais chevalier and Marie Dorin Habert won the women's relay today with eight spare rounds in 1:0753.5. The Czech Republic finished second with two penalties and seven spares, 17.2 seconds back. Third went to Russia with ten spares, 21.1 seconds back.

A Win for Anton in Antholz Pursuit

Russia's Anton Shipulin won for the first time this season, taking the men's pursuit with two penalties in 31:51.9. He took the lead from Simon Schempp for the first time after the final standing stage; Schempp finished second with single penalty, 10.3 seconds back, while Johannes Thingnes Boe finished third, with one penalty, 14.1 seconds back.

Career Win Number Two for Ekaterina Yurlova

Russia's Ekaterina Yurlova took charge of the women's pursuit with a clean final standing stage and went on to the second victory in her career, with a single penalty in 30:07.3. Selina Gasparin with her best result of the season finished second, also with one penalty, 12 seconds back. Third went to Italy's Dorothea Wierer, with three penalties, 18 seconds back.

Martin Fourcade: A Day in Yellow Video

Martin Fourcade has been in the Yellow Bib since early December; as an athlete and World Cup Total Score leader, his main job is to compete. However, wearing Yellow carries a lot of responsibilities: meeting the press, talking with fans and going to the flower ceremony. That is really part two of his work day. Our POV video, “Martin Fourcade: A Day in Yellow,” follows the French star from the moment he crosses the finish line until the end of the press conference; then he finally gets a chance to relax…and get ready for more biathlon tomorrow!
