Victory Number Two for Ferry in Mass Start

Sweden's Bjorn Ferry won for the second time this week claiming the 15k mass start this morning in 35:19.3, 4.7 seconds ahead of France's Martin Fourcade, with Russia's Evegeny Ustyugov in third, 12.5 seconds back. All three men shot clean.

Snow, Snow, Everywhere Video

The E.ON IBU World Cup venues have battled the snow all winter, mostly trying to have a minimum of snow on the tracks and shooting range... and preserve it. However at Pokljuka, it has been just the opposite; they have been moving snow after the venue as deluged earlier this month.

Pokljuka Pursuit to Mäkäräinen

Finland's Kaisa Mäkäräinen won the women's 10K pursuit with two penalties in 32:01.0, with second place going to Norway's Tora Berger, also with two penalties, 19.7 seconds back. Italy's Dorothea Wierer, with the first individual podium of her career finished third, with three penalties, 54.4 seconds back.

Björndalen Not Hanging Up His Rifle Just Yet Video

It was big news when Ole Einar Björndalen won Gold in the Sochi Sprint and bigger news when he added another Gold medal in the mixed relay, making him the most decorated athlete in the Olympic Winter Games. However, he made even bigger news early this week, when he announced that he would continue his career for two more years, ending at the 2016 IBU WCH Biathlon in Oslo.

Pokljuka Sprint Win for Katharina Innerhofer

Austria's Katharina Innerhofer claimed her first World Cup victory and first podium of her career in this afternoon's women's sprint at Pokljuka. The 23-year-old shot clean while covering the 7.5k course in 21:19.1. Russia's Daria Virolaynen also had the best result of her career shooting clean to finish second, 9.2 seconds back. Nadezhda Skardino of Belarus matched her rivals on the shooting range but finished third, 12.1 seconds back.

Pokljuka Sprint to Bjorn Ferry

Sweden's Bjoern Ferry won for the first time this season, taking the men's sprint today at Pokljuka in 25:03.5 with one penalty. Ferry finished 1.5 seconds ahead of Russia's Anton Shipulin who shot clean. Third went Germany's Arnd Peiffer, with one penalty, 2.6 seconds back.

Gold for Russian Men in Relay

Russia won its first Olympic Biathlon medal of these 2014 Olympic Winter Games, claiming the men's 4 X 7.5K relay to the delight of a packed stadium this evening. The team of Alexey Volkov, Evegeny Ustyugov, Dmitry Malyshko, and Anton Shipulin finished in 1:12:15.9, with eight spare rounds, 3.5 seconds ahead of silver medalists Germany, with two spare rounds. Austria, with seven spares won the Bronze medal, 29.8 seconds back.
