Darya Domracheva to Skip 2015-16 Biathlon Season

World Cup Total Score titlist and three-time Olympic Gold medalist Darya Domracheva announced today that she will skip the upcoming biathlon season. Early in July, the Belarusian star revealed that she was suffering from mononucleosis. Now she will take more time to fully recover, prepare for the 2016-17 season, while being able "to rejoice in the small things."

Biathlon Development Camps in Spain

Spain in July usually means a holiday, in Madrid, Valencia or on a nice beach. However over the past two weekends, July meant thoughts of winter and biathlon as the Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation held two development camps with over a dozen young athletes.

Anton Shipulin: A New Plan for Success

Last season was one of the most successful for the Olympic Champion Anton Shipulin: he finished second in the World Cup Total Score, with only Martin Fourcade ahead of him. This success inspired the Russian biathlete, pushing him to look for new methods and types of work that would allow him to do more to fulfill his dreams. Now Shipulin trains apart from the main team, implementing and controlling his own path to success.

“Training in Paradise” with the Canadian Team

The Canadian Biathlon A and B teams live and train in Canmore, Alberta Canada, site of World Cup 7 next season. The eleven athletes (six men and five women) sleep in their own beds, and get up every morning to go up to the training center, situated on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains.

Breakfast Starts a Training Day; Summertime Delights

There is a huge difference between a biathlete's life during the competitive season and the rest of the year. Most of the winter is spent in hotels with teammates away from home. The summer training season is different, with sometimes several weeks in a row training at home, sleeping in a familiar bed and eating favorite foods; even summer training camps are a much different experience; not holidays but definitely a bit more relaxed and flexible.

IBU WCH 2017: Hochfilzen Construction Progressing

Hosting the two weeks of competitions at the IBU World Championships is a big task in itself, but long-term preparation for the this event is an even bigger job, that takes years of work.
