Men’s Mass Start Postponed until Tuesday at 14:30

The Men’s 15K Mass Start competition at the Laura Biathlon Stadium has been postponed until Tuesday February 18. The new starting time for the competition is 14:30 Sochi Time (11:30 CET). An update concerning the scheduled Women’s Mass Start will be coming at 16:00 Local time. Watch for further details on our Facebook page, Biathlonworld or follow us on Twitter @biathlonworld.

Men’s Mass Start Moved to Monday at 10 AM Local Time

The string of perfect competition evenings here in Sochi was due to run out at some point, like at 18:00 tonight when the Men's 15K Mass Start was initially delayed for 1 hour, due to foggy conditions Just after 19:00, when the conditions remained the same the competition jury decided to postpone the competition until Monday at 10 am local time. The postponement was due to fog not only in the stadium but also due to heavy fog on the tracks which created dangerous conditions.

Dasha Dashes to Second Gold Medal; Wins 15K

Darya Domracheva of Belarus buried the field with her peerless skiing this evening to capture her second Gold medal of these 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Her time of 43:19.6, with a single penalty, was 1:15.7 ahead of Silver medalist Selina Gasparin of Switzerland, who shot clean. Domracheva's teammate Nadezhda Skardino also shot clean to claim the Bronze medal, 1:38.2 back. This was the first time that Belarus has ever won two medals in an OWG competition.

Two Times Gold For Fourcade; Wins 20K

France's Martin Fourcade doubled up today by winning the Olympic 20K Individual to go along with his Olympic Pursuit Gold medal from Monday. Fourcade had a single penalty on his way to a 49:31.7 victory on the soft Laura Biathlon stadium tracks. The Silver medal went to Germany's Erik Lesser, who after shooting clean was in the lead with 4K to go, but faded to finish 12.2 seconds behind Fourcade. The Bronze medal went to Russia's Evgeniy Garanichev, with one penalty, 34.5 seconds back.

Dasha Dazzles; Powers to Pursuit Gold

Darya Domracheva of Belarus put on a dazzling performance to win the Olympic Pursuit Gold medal this evening, hitting every shot except the final one to leave Silver medalist Tora Berger of Norway, also with one penalty, 37.6 second back. Domracheva finished in 29:30.7. Slovenia's Teja Gregorin came out of the pack to win Bronze, with one penalty, 42 seconds back.

Martin is Magnificent; Wins Pursuit Gold

Martin Fourcade of France accomplished one of his goals by winning a Gold medal in the men's pursuit tonight, quieting all of the doubters with a dominating performance. He had just a single penalty in the first standing stage and finished in 33:48.6, 14.1 seconds ahead of clean-shooting Ondrej Moravec of Czech Republic. Fourcade's teammate Jean Guilluame Beatrix, with a single penalty surprised everyone by winning the Bronze medal, 24.2 seconds back.

Kuzmina Defends Her Olympic Sprint Title

2010 Olympic Sprint Champion Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia defended her title today winning another Gold medal in her native country of Russia. Kuzmina shot clean and was never seriously challenged as she finished in 21:06.8, 19.9 seconds ahead of Russia's Olga Vilukhina, who shot clean to win the Silver medal. The Bronze medal went to Vita Semerenko of Ukraine, who also hit every target, but finished 21.7 seconds back.

Russians Lapshin and Podchufarova Win IBU Cup Pursuits

Russia's Timofey Lapshin, with one penalty moved from second in the sprint yesterday to win the men's pursuit today in 32:16.5.Olga Podchufarova with one penalty, won for the second day in a row. Her time was 33:08 for the 10K course.
