Ricco Gross Heads to Russia as Senior Men’s Coach

The Russian Biathlon Union announced today that Olympic Gold medalist and former World Champion Ricco Gross has been hired as a Senior Coach for the Russian Men's Team. He will work alongside Vladimir Bragin to prepare the team for the 2015-16 biathlon season. Gross' contract extends through the Olympic season of 2017-18.

Hard Training, Good Teammates and the Pool

July and August are usually the hardest training months for biathletes, as they continue to build the volume of hours and add more intensive biathlon specific training. Over the past several weeks, teams have been taking advantage of the summer weather in training camps all over Europe, as the new season is now less than four months away.

Darya Domracheva to Skip 2015-16 Biathlon Season

World Cup Total Score titlist and three-time Olympic Gold medalist Darya Domracheva announced today that she will skip the upcoming biathlon season. Early in July, the Belarusian star revealed that she was suffering from mononucleosis. Now she will take more time to fully recover, prepare for the 2016-17 season, while being able "to rejoice in the small things."

Beijing Selected to Host 2022 Olympic Winter Games

Beijing was awarded the hosting rights for the 2022 Winter Olympics on Friday, making the Chinese capital the first city to stage both the Summer and Winter Games. The Chinese capital was chosen over Almaty, Kazakhstan in a vote of 44 to 40, at the 128th IOC session in Kuala Lumpur.

200 Days to 2016 YOG: Pathway to Success for Preuss

Today marks 200 days until the opening of the second Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer. Back in the third week of January 2012, over 3 ½ years ago at the first YOG in Innsbruck, Franziska Preuss emerged as one of the big stars of those Games and now is one of the leading ladies in the sport of biathlon.

Anton Shipulin: A New Plan for Success

Last season was one of the most successful for the Olympic Champion Anton Shipulin: he finished second in the World Cup Total Score, with only Martin Fourcade ahead of him. This success inspired the Russian biathlete, pushing him to look for new methods and types of work that would allow him to do more to fulfill his dreams. “Training in Paradise” with the Canadian Team

The Canadian Biathlon A and B teams live and train in Canmore, Alberta Canada, site of World Cup 7 next season. The eleven athletes (six men and five women) sleep in their own beds, and get up every morning to go up to the training center, situated on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains.
